Otter Mercator Knife A piece of knife history Built for over 140 years Original cat logo Stainless 1.4043 steel Well-tried and still greatThe Otter Mercator is an absolute legend among pocket knives. Also known as the "K55K" or "Black Cat Knive", the Mercator gained international fame especially after World War II when American GIs brought the folding knives back to the US from Germany. However, the knife - which we now know as the "Mercator" - has been manufactured since imperial times in the late 19th century and was also used by soldiers in the German Army during World War I. Since then, it has been manufactured unchanged to this day, as the company Heinrich Kaufmann & Söhne registered it in 1867 as a Deutsches Reich Gebrauchsmuster. The abbreviation "K55K" stands for Kaufmann, Hochstr. 55, Katze. The US soldiers simply called the knife Black Cat Knife, which is a bit inaccurate. While the folded sheet steel handle is completely powder coated in black, the stamped cat is hand painted in gold color, then as now. Since 1995, the knife has been faithfully built by Otter under the Mercator name, and its design has changed almost not a bit in over 140 years by now. The backlock construction is a rather simple but extremely reliable design that can withstand harder use, but is still easy to use. The long blade is constructed of either stainless 1.4043 or - true to the original - non-stainless C75 carbon steel. The extremely flat design ensures that the Mercator is not a bit bulky in the pocket and is very easy to guide.

Giantmouse ACE Riv Blackout Titanium Framelock Brass handle M390 Made by Reate Little mouse With the Riv, GiantMouse present a model that fans of somewhat more compact knives in particular have long been waiting for. What may look like a Biblio washed too hot at first glance is actually much more. Visually, the Riv is clearly reminiscent of its big brother at first, but it also fulfills the long-held desire of many fans of Jesper Voxnaes to get a high-end version of the CRKT Pilar - there is a certain similarity here as well. The basic idea behind the Riv was to offer a pocket knife that is small enough to really carry with you wherever you go. Despite the compact dimensions, however, the knife should still be a full-fledged cutting tool that can be used properly. The handle of the Riv is designed as a framelock, and it's no surprise that an exceedingly good-looking and popular combination of materials is used here in the form of titanium and micarta. To prevent wear in the lock, the lockbar was provided with a stainless steel insert, which also serves as an internal overtravel guard, so that the lock can not be accidentally overstretched when opening. Typical for GiantMouse is the curved wire clip, which allows the knife to disappear deep and barely visible in the pocket. For the blade, the manufacturer once again relies on the proven CPM-20CV steel from Böhler, which provides excellent cutting performance and is extremely resistant to rust and corrosion and with its stonewash finish gives a great image. The knife is opened either via the thumb hole or the small flipper tab, which allows the ball-bearing blade to shoot out of the hilt. Like all GiantMouse knives, the Riv was named after a special place. After boss and founder of the brand, Jim Wirth, moved from California to East Lansing/ Michigan in 2020, he remembered a small pub he had visited often as a student at Michigan State University: The Riv. That pub still exists today and will be the breeding ground for many imaginative evenings together for Wirth, Ansø and Voxnaes in the future. Like the GiantMouse Sonoma, the Riv is entirely manufactured by Reate.

Sebenza 31 Lefthand available in Large or Small Reeve Integral Lock with ceramic ball on the lockbar Blade steel: CPM S35 VN Clip Design: Off-set (on the 31 the clip is now diagonal and no longer straight) Actually, the Large Sebenza 31 should be available from the end of October. Unfortunately the delivery is delayed. Chris Reeve is so busy that they are behind schedule. I'm afraid we won't get the Sebenza 31 until 2020. :( When the end of the Sebenza 21 was proclaimed in June 2019 and its successor, the Sebenza 31, was introduced, this news went through the knife scene like a drumbeat. After all, new introductions of the manufacturer from Idaho are already very rare. Fortunately, Chris Reeve Knives have improved their recipe for success all in all only minimally but in crucial places, so that one can justifiably continue to speak of a Sebenza in the new 31 model. First of all, the hole on the presentation side of the knife is now gone - something that many Reeve fans have long wished for. The slightly changed angle of the pocket clip, which now no longer presses on the lockbar, is also quickly noticeable to the trained eye. Less obvious, however, is the revised lock of the Sebenza 31. Just as with the Umnumzaan or the Inkosi, a ceramic ball embedded in the lockbar now presses against the blade root. The hardness of this ball is in a barely measurable range, which prevents long-term wear at the contact point of the lockbar. In order to improve the hand position of the Sebenza a bit, the grip recess on the front side was ground a bit differently. All in all, we can say: yes, the new model rightly bears the venerable name Sebenza and can easily tie in with the popular 21 series. Bread saw cherry with polished shaft Handle: cherryRivets: AluminumBlade: stainlessSurface: blue grittedBlade length: approx. 220 mm / 8.5 inchesTotal length: approx. 345 mm The elegant blade shape with its slight back sweep goes back to the style of the early 1920s.The hand-ground polished shaft with the extremely high teeth and the thin scabbard ensure exceptional cutting quality. The individual teeth on the cutting edge are thinner than conventional serrations. This makes them many times sharper, but also somewhat more sensitive. Small burrs that can form in the individual teeth during use are completely normal with this serrated edge and do not detract from the high cutting ability. The result of all these features is an incredibly sharp, durable bread saw knife. Its light weight allows for easy and comfortable handling. The aesthetics and function of this bread saw makes cutting bread a daily pleasure, without a sea of crumbs.

Giantmouse GMF1 Classic Does it always have to be a folding knife? We say: No! In recent years, one type of knife has become particularly popular: the small pocket fixed blade. With the GiantMouse GMF1-C you get a small but incredibly sturdy knife that comes with a well fitted, hand made in Italy leather sheath to carry in your pocket or on the belt. With a total length of only 138 mm and its low weight, this small fixed blade knife hardly takes up any space. The entire knife is milled from one solid piece of Böhler N690 steel, which is considered to be one of the most versatile steels of our time. The highly rust-resistant steel alloy has the ability to hold an edge for a very long time. While still being relatively easily to resharpen the GMF1-C can master the cutting tasks of everyday life with flying colors. The skeletonized handle of the GMF1 has deliberately not been equipped with scales, which of course has a positive effect on weight cutting, but also allows you to apply a Paracord wrapping of your choice. Thanks to the slightly curved handle, the GMF1-C fits very well in the hand - only very large hands might have difficulties here and could use a lanyard for additional support.
