For kitchen knives, the processing time is usually a maximum of 7 to 8 business days. The exact turnaround time depends on the condition of the blade and our current workload.
Knife Sharpening in Hamburg
A dull knife doesn't have to stay that way. Bring your kitchen knife, pocket knife or Japanese knife to our workshop in Hamburg-Altona and we'll sharpen it professionally — no appointment, no waiting around.
Every blade is different. We look at the steel, the grind and how the knife is used before we start. That way the original geometry is preserved and the knife cuts the way it's supposed to.
What does sharpening cost?
The price depends on blade length and condition. As a rough guide:
Just drop your knife off — no appointment needed.
Which knives we sharpen
We sharpen knives that are meant to be used. Material-appropriate, controlled and adjusted to blade geometry and intended use.
We also sharpen garden shears and garden tools — just drop them off.
How sharpening works
Assessment
We look at the condition, grind and steel. Not every knife needs the same treatment.
Grind & angle
We decide which angle and technique fits. Goal: minimum material removal, maximum sharpness.
Sharpening — by hand
We sharpen exclusively by hand. No machine, no automatic sharpener. This protects the blade and preserves the original geometry.
Final check
A knife only leaves the workshop when the grind and cutting performance are right.
We also repair handles
Alongside sharpening, we repair knife handles too. Whether it's a cracked wood handle, broken handle material or a loose handle that has come away from the tang, just bring the knife along.
