GiantMouse GMF1-FS Does it always have to be a folding knife?  We say: No! In recent years, one type of knife has become particularly popular: the small pocket fixed blade. With the GiantMouse GMF1-FS you get a small but incredibly sturdy knife that comes with a well fitted, hand made in Italy leather sheath to carry in your pocket or on the belt. With a total length of only 138 mm and its low weight, this small fixed blade knife hardly takes up any space. The entire knife is milled from one solid piece of Böhler M390 steel.The highly rust-resistant steel alloy has the ability to hold an edge for a very long time. While still being relatively easily to resharpen the GMF1-FS can master the cutting tasks of everyday life with flying colors. The skeletonized handle of the GMF1 has deliberately not been equipped with scales, which of course has a positive effect on weight cutting, but also allows you to apply a Paracord wrapping of your choice. Thanks to the slightly curved handle, the GMF1-FS fits very well in the hand - only very large hands might have difficulties here and could use a lanyard for additional support.

Due to the thin, extremely cutting blade and the very universal handle, it is suitable for a whole range of cutting tasks that occur in everyday life. At the same time, the knife does not attract attention in any way and even makes a really good picture in a restaurant. Thanks to the small leather case it can be carried comfortably in your pocket without scratching the beautiful handle. Although we are dealing with a quite modern knife design, the roots of Le Francais go back to the 17th century. Already in this long past time, French farm workers used a very similar looking knife. The Le Francais is locked by a cleanly engaging liner lock, which is wonderfully easy to unlock. Due to the small nail hammer the knife can be opened easily with two hands. The wonderfully pointed blade is very well suited for fine work and the cutting edge, which is sharpened on buffalo leather, comes with an enormous sharpness. The damascus steel used is rust resistant and therefore completely unproblematic in combination with food. All in all you get a really great piece of French knife culture, which will surely take a special place in your collection.  This Ebony, comes from Gabun (Central Africa) and varies from yellow to dark brown. Makassar ebony is characterized by a longitudinal grain. It is very dense and color-fast. Also known as the "K55K" or "Black Cat Knive", the Mercator gained international fame especially after World War II when American GIs brought the folding knives back to the US from Germany. However, the knife - which we now know as the "Mercator" - has been manufactured since imperial times in the late 19th century and was also used by soldiers in the German Army during World War I. Since then, it has been manufactured unchanged to this day, as the company Heinrich Kaufmann & Söhne registered it in 1867 as a Deutsches Reich Gebrauchsmuster. The abbreviation "K55K" stands for Kaufmann, Hochstr. 55, Katze. The US soldiers simply called the knife Black Cat Knife, which is a bit inaccurate. While the folded sheet steel handle is completely powder coated in black, the stamped cat is hand painted in gold color, then as now. Since 1995, the knife has been faithfully built by Otter under the Mercator name, and its design has changed almost not a bit in over 140 years by now. The backlock construction is a rather simple but extremely reliable design that can withstand harder use, but is still easy to use. The long blade is constructed of either stainless 1.4043 or - true to the original - non-stainless C75 carbon steel. The extremely flat design ensures that the Mercator is not a bit bulky in the pocket and is very easy to guide.
