Pavel's enthusiasm for sharp objects began as a child when he bought his first knife, an inexpensive Chinese stiletto knife with a dragon motif on the handle.
However, his real passion for handmade tools was awakened when his best friend gave him a Victorinox Camper for his 18th birthday.
The sophisticated workmanship and versatility of this tool made a lasting impression on him and marked the starting point for his collection of knives and bottle openers.
With a background in engineering and business, Pavel recognized the growing community of craft beer enthusiasts and bottle opener collectors. Inspired by his lifelong proximity to the sea, he founded the nautical and pirate-themed EDC brand "Picaroon Tools" in 2016.
The term "Picaroon", a less well-known synonym for pirate, not only reflects his maritime affinity, but also symbolizes the adventurous and unconventional nature of his products.
Pavel Kukushev has established himself as a successful partner of renowned companies such as Kizer Cutlery, Bestech and Boker. Particularly noteworthy is his collaboration with Boker, where he designed an exclusive bottle opener/key ring for their 150th anniversary.
